A former cattle and sheep farm, Pontispool diversified into equestrian sport in 1999 under the ownership of Richard Mitford–Slade who developed a XC course within 200 acres of the existing farm allowing the first Pontispool Horse Trials to take place. Over the years Richard has continued to invest and grow the venue adding nearly 4 acres of all-weather surface, installing a 6 furlong all-weather circular gallop and increasing the number of stables as well as continually upgrading and enhancing the XC course.
To complement the equestrian facilities, Pontispool has added various types of accommodation ranging from basic cabins, upgraded lodges, and 2 luxury holiday homes, the larger of which has its own indoor swimming pool.
Richard continues to have a hands on approach to the business and with the assistance of his team of experienced, dedicated employees, strives to maintain Pontispool’s position as one of the finest in the South of England, and possibly the whole of the country.
